Mary Kahara
Mary started her healthcare career as a chiropractor in 1998. Originally from Sudbury, Ontario, she graduated from the National University of Health Sciences in Illinois, USA with a BSc in Human Physiology and Doctor of Chiropractic degree. After graduation, Mary worked in Malaysia for 2 years before settling in Ottawa in 2001. For 12 years, she worked as a chiropractor in both private practice and part of a medical family clinic. Mary also had the opportunity to be an anatomy instructor and precompetitive gymnastics coach during that time.
After some time away from practice to raise her daughter and then suffering an arm injury, Mary was no longer able to work as a chiropractor. During her search for new ways to work in healthcare, Mary was introduced to vision therapy. It has proven to be a perfect fit for her – combing education, patient care and coaching. She is thrilled to be able to improve the quality of life of patients again.
Mary enjoys an active lifestyle with her family – husband, daughter, dog and guinea pig. She can be found most often out in nature hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, cross-country skiing or enjoying a good book.
